4th of July, memories and food…

When we lived in Seattle, I remember my parents taking me to St. Mark’s Cathedral on one 4th of July.

In SF, she would prepare game hens – one each – for my dad and I. We would take the 24 Castro directly to the Marina district where we would walk along Chrissy Field and find a good spot to see the fireworks.

Then they became friends with a family in the Presidio. This was back in the 1980’s when there was still a military presence in the Presidio. This family just happened to be housed close to Chrissy Field and so we would have a joyous feast at their house.

She started to make this caviar pie and hamburger patties stuffed with something.

Fun times, good food, and great company.
